How does the Arista 7500 advance the state of computing?
The Arista 7500 delivers unprecedented performance with breakthrough economics in both CAPEX and OPEX.
Connecting 384 wire speed 10GbE ports together previously required multi-chassis/multi-stage fabric architectures of around eighteen switches, now this level of scale and performance is delivered in an 11RU compact and easily managed chassis
The Arista 7500 brings the network into balance with the recent improvements in performance brought by CPUs like Intel's Nehalem, and advances in storage technology like the Solid State Drive (SSD). Balancing the performance of cutting edge infrastructure improves the efficiency of every connected device improving the performance of the entire IT infrastructure by removing critical bottlenecks.
When will the Arista 7500 be orderable and shipping?
The Arista 7500 is orderable immediately and is shipping with standard lead times.
Will the Arista 7500 support 40Gb and 100GbE, what will it take?
The Arista 7500 is designed, from day-one, to support 40 and 100GbE with the densities necessary for common deployments. The fabric capacity of the Arista 7500 is 648Gb per linecard slot, and 10 Terabits overall. This is enough capacity to ensure that a deployment of 100GbE is useable by Arista 7500 customers. Adding 40 and 100GbE technology to the Arista 7500 is as simple as adding a new linecard, the existing fabric, supervisor, fan, and power supply modules will not need to be upgraded or replaced.
What makes the Arista 7500 so energy efficient?
The Arista 7500 has the lowest power consumption per wirespeed port (typically <10W per port or up to 1/10th the power consumption of other products), it uses the least amount of materials and resources in the production of the switch, ranging from silicon chips to steel and printed circuit board materials, and it requires the least amount of rack space in the data center, reducing the amount of real estate required.
In addition, the Arista 7500 features true "front-to-rear" airflow, which maximizes cooling efficiency in data centers. Gold Climate Saver rated power supplies combined with single stage AC to DC conversion contribute to the outstanding energy efficiency of the design.
